Musical Stew is a 45 minute music and movement class. Rooted in music education approaches such as Orff-Schulwerk, Kodaly and Dalcroze, the class provides adults songs, rhymes and activities to help nurture their child's musical development and allow the little ones to begin an integrative musical journey that lets music work its magic-helping children develop cognitively, physically and emotionally.

A wonderful continuation through the world of theater and storytelling, Imagination Playhouse II uses improvisation and theaters games to nurture the creative minds of students while teaching them theater terminology, character development, and story creation. Over the fall trimester, students will be building a foundation and community through the weekly improv and theater games. They will also have breakout sections in music, movement, and set and costume design, giving them a window into most aspects of the theater.

Join experienced set and costume designer Sophia Jackson and arts educator Romina Robinson on a creative voyage to make your costume dreams into reality! Come spend some FUN time with your child creating and crafting your own Halloween costumes OR drop off your child (ages 7 and up only, please) and have them work with us to complete their unique vision. The sky's the limit and we are here to help. Over the course of 4 sessions, we'll help you think about clothes and things you may have from home, that can be upcycled transformed: a scarf that can become a tail, or screen printing stripes on a less worn t-shirt. Together we'll design and combine found things with multimedia materials from our studio. Let your imaginations come to life!

A wonderful introduction to the world of theater, Imagination Playhouse I nurtures the vast, creative minds of children. Through the use of improvisation and theater games, creative play, singing, instruments, art, design, and movement, students will bring folk tales, fairy tales, and other stories to life. Explore the fundamental process of character creation using shape construction to develop the form of the character, while considering the personality of the character and how it informs the shape. Students will turn these characters into a cartoon drawing with a world created entirely by them. A full character has a world in which they live and students will explore perspective as a tool to build their character's individual world. This year, Musical Chefs is going to take a little turn in its direction. Gina is joining forces with art educator, Romina Robinson, to create a STEAM-based experience on Friday mornings for 3-5 year olds. Using a thematic approach, Romina and Gina will create a magical journey for students to explore the elements of music and art through stories, music, movement, and art and natural materials. STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) concepts will be interwoven throughout the arts experiences, giving children a multifaceted understanding of the world around them that is developmentally on target for their age.

Come get your little one working their fine motor skills AND gross motor skills in one artistic combination class. Compass Arts is offering a class that combines art and movement into a one-hour long class. Half of the class will be dedicated to movement with basic tumbling skills and the other half to sensory based art. We will cover two age groups at the same time so siblings can get in on the action too!

This starter ukulele class will include learning chords, strumming patterns, simple melodies, and improvisation basics. Some small percussion will also be used from time to time to create simple ensembles. Students are to provide their own ukuleles and it would be ideal if they had tuners or tuner apps on a phone so they can also begin to learn how to tune their own instrument (Guitar Tuna is good free app for uke tuning).
