EVENTS at Compass Arts

Events are another area where the Compass Arts staff gets to assemble some very creative offerings. Compass Arts events expose attendees to the arts and bring the community together. They can be platforms for visiting artists, unique class experiences, seasonal celebrations or creative meet-ups.

InterConnected: Arts in the Parks

InterConnected is a FREE four part outdoor summer event series created, curated, and produced by Compass Arts Creativity Project in collaboration with the Beacon Recreation Department.

Through an intentional integration of education and performance, this series highlights the relationship between individual artists, their art form, and the audience as participants. Each event will feature a different live performance, coupled with an interactive element for audience members of all ages to take, connect with, and explore on their own.

While this is a free public event, reservations are necessary. Bring a picnic at 5:30pm and enjoy an activity, either self guided “kits,” or a 30-45 minute artist guided workshop, followed by a performance at 6:30pm. The events are fantastic for all ages so bring a group of friends or the whole family and let’s create together!

This project is made possible, in part, through funding from Dutchess Tourism, Inc. and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson:

InterGenerational Series

Common Ground Farm and Compass Arts Creativity Project are thrilled to bring a new collaboration to the community this summer. Join us for our InterGenerational Series at the Farm!

Each week, a Common Ground farmer will invite folks to harvest with them in the Common Ground fields. We will pick seasonal veggies and provide additional items to help you to make a simple salad or side to accompany your picnic dinner. The second half of the evening will be a fun activity led by one of Compass Arts’ amazing teaching artists. While some of the events might focus on particular age ranges, everyone will be able to participate in some capacity and enjoy these playful activities with their group. It's the perfect way to spend a mid-Hudson summer evening; food, family, friends, and creative fun.

We are offering this program with sliding scale pricing to ensure that our programs are affordable to our community. Each ticket registration is for groups of up to 5 people. $20 covers our costs, and $40 covers our costs AND supports two amazing nonprofit organizations.

Register your group, pack your picnic, and come on down to the farm for some freshly picked veggies and joyful creativity!

Big thanks to Common Ground Farm for this fantastic collaboration:

We will also harvest the best of what's in Common Ground's fields and make our own veggie foil packs! Great for all ages. And if the weather is right, we'll have an actual campfire too!!

Compass Arts Music and Mindfulness with Jessie Shaffer and Heather DaviesCompass Arts Music and Mindfulness with Jessie Shaffer and Heather DaviesINTERGENERATIONAL - Music and Mindfulness with Jessie Shaffer and Heather Davies
at Common Ground Farm

This workshop is a taste of the mindfulness series Jessie and Heather are offering in the fall. We will spend some time in the perennial garden, smelling the smells and observing life buzzing all around before we harvest herbs and veggies for a flavorful and fresh picnic side dish. Then, join in on the play with your child as we blend yoga asana, breathing practices, age appropriate meditation and lots of awesome music to create a fun and engaging program. Mindfulness is a great way to practice being aware of our bodies and what we are experiencing in them. Teaching and modeling mindfulness tools can help children regulate emotions and avoid feeling overwhelmed in this fast moving world. We add music and movement to help children access these tools easily and have fun!

Compass Arts Intergenerational Improv and Theater GamesINTERGENERATIONAL - Improv and Theater Games
Led by Eric Saiet
at Common Ground Farm

Laugh and play with your family as Compass Arts' improvisation and theater teacher, Eric Saiet, leads you in some of his student's favorite games. Improvisation is a wonderful life tool that can be used far beyond the walls of a theater. Adults, Teens and kids (7+) are encouraged to come together and create new memories: like watching mom speak gibberish while her daughter translates and Grandpa explains why he is late to school to his grandson. We will harvest the veggies we need to make a delicious fresh salsa to enjoy while we are improvising!
